Only 1.3% Villages in Odisha have Piped Water Supply

Dilip-RayBhubaneswar, Dec 1: Only 1.3 percent houses in rural areas of Odisha are linked to piped water supply and around 13 percent of houses have sanitation facilities. This information was given by Rural Development Minister Badri Narayan Patra in a question raised by Dilip Ray, BJP MLA from Rourkela.

Ray questioned the state government about number houses in rural areas are deprived of drinking water facility and what time frame has been set by the state government to link those houses to piped water supply.

In his reply, the minister informed that,  out of total  81,73,296 houses in villages of Odisha around 1,06,787 houses have piped water supply connection. Patra added that only 10,38, 127 houses in these rural areas of the state have sanitation facilities.

The minister informed that 17, 210 villages out of total 47,149 villages in the state have piped water supply. And, the rest of the villages will be provided the facility by 2025.  He added that the state government aimed to have sanitation facilities all houses by 2029.
