‘Operation Blue Moon’ in Maoist-hit Koraput from Aug 4

MaoistsKoraput: In an endeavour to inspire the people of Maoists-hit Koraput district, the administration will launch a special programme – Operation Blue Moon. The special progamme will start in two blocks – Narayanpatan and Bandhugaon from August 4 and it would last for eight weeks. The two blocks in Koraput district have been affected due to Maoists insurgency.

Koraput Collector Jaya Kumar said that during the special programme, the administration will aim to address grievances of people and specially appointed officials will carry out surprise inspection at government offices. A team of seven district-level officers appointed as nodal officers for the Operation Blue Moon. The team will work under the supervision of district collector.

Kumar added that under the special programme the team will focus on infrastructure work in the backwards blocks. The central government has listed Bandhugaon block in 10 most backward blocks of the country under Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana. Under the Yojna, the block is entitled to get assistance of Rs10 crore per year for next five from the Union Tribal Affairs Ministry, he added.
