Orissa HC asks District & Sessions Judges to hold Camp Courts in Jails

ONI Bureau:  The Orissa High Court on Saturday asked District & Sessions Judges to hold camp courts in jails for hearing bail pleas of accused in custody and to meet the extraordinary situation across the State.

As per a notification issued by the Registrar Inspection, the camp court shall be held inside the jail premises within the working day.

However, identity of the accused shall be verified by the concerned jail superrintedent/Assistant Jail superintendent as the case may be.

In case of arrest and first production, the same be made in the Camp Court inside the jail.

Where bail will be allowed, provisionally P.R Bond be taken and the accused be asked to furnish regular surety bond after one/two months fixing a date for it.

Similarly, the concerned jail authorities shall ensure that at the time of bail hearing, none apart from court staff and C.S.I are present.

It is to be noted that lawyers across Odisha have boycotted court proceedings and staging protest since last two months.
