Patnagarh Wedding Gift Blast: Prime Accused Punjilal Meher Moves HC For Bail

Punjilal Meher, the prime accused of sensational Patnagarh parcel bomb explosion, has moved to the Orissa High Court seeking for bail, his counsel Srimat Kumar Panigrahi informed today.

On June 1, the Balangir Additional District and Sessions Court rejected the bail plea of Punjilal in this connection.

Punjilal, who is currently lodged at the Patnagarh sub-jail, was arrested by the Crime Branch Special Investigation Team (SIT) on April 24 in connection to the parcel bomb explosion incident that killed newly married Soumya Sekhar Sahu, his grandmother Jemamani and left his wife Rimarani grievously wounded in burn injuries.

The heart-wrenching incident that had sent shock waves across the state and nation, had taken place at Bholanathpada village under Patnagarh police station limits in Balangir on February 23.
