PM Modi inaugurates Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda

ONI Bureau:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda. Modi renamed the Airport as requested by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and a resolution passed by Odisha Assembly accordingly.

Jharsuguda, the second operational airport of Odisha was spread over 909.22 acres. Under the Centre’s UDAN scheme, the Airport has been developed at an estimated project cost of Rs 210 crore. With this, Veer Surendra Sai Airport will now bring western Odisha on the aviation map of India.

Modi also Jharsuguda-Sardega railway line that link to scale up coal handling. The handling capacity will be ramped up to 40 million tonnes per annum from 13 million tonnes, after commissioning of the second line. The Prime Minister also dedicated the Garjanbahal open cast project (OCP) of MCL to the nation.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu and Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram are remained present at the event.
