PMO seeks Report from Odisha Govt on SIET Closure

Prime Minister OfficeThe Prime Minister Office has asked the Odisha government over the closure of State Institute of Educational Technology (SIET) in the State.

The Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi has ordered the School and Mass Education Department to submit the report immediately.

It is to be noted that the Orissa Soochna Adhikar Abhijan, an RTI forum alleged on December 2014 that the School and Mass Education department had closed the SIET to hide its failures. It also complained that the Government had diverted the funds allotted for SIET to Odisha Knowledge Corporation Limited (OKCL) in which the Government had gained 30 percent shares.

The RTI activist Pradip Pradhan on January, 2016 filed a case in this regard before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
