PNG Minister seeks CM’s Interference over Commemorative Coin on Lord Jagannath

Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday urged Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on undue delay in release of Commemorative Coin on Sri Jagannath.

In a letter to Odisha Chief Minister, PNG Minister said that the Ministry of Culture has been requesting Chairman, Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee, Puri to furnish a few designs/photos of Lord Jagannath. However, the Managing Committee, Puri has sought time to finalize new designs/photos of the Deities. The Ministry of Culture has written letters on February, 11 & 24 and April 7 and has been pursuing the matter with Temple Administration.

“In the interest of popular Odia sentiments on Lord Jagannath, I shall be grateful if you could kindly look into the matter and issue necessary advice to the Managing Committee, Puri to furnish a few designs/photos of Lord Jagannath expeditiously. This will enable them to take further action in the matter to release the Commemorative Coin of Lord Jagannath,” Pradhan added in his letter.
