Polavaram Issue: Odisha argues in SC; Next hearing in Feb 2018

ONI Bureau:  Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sought his intervention in Polavaram irrigation project.

Representing Odisha government’s stand in the Supreme Court today during the hearing, Gopal Subramanium, the advocate said Odisha residents will face several problems due to the project, including submergence of tribal land, flooding of fertile agricultural land and mass displacement of villagers.

Reportedly, next hearing on the Polavaram issue will be held in February 2018.
