Sura Baba, 2 Sons arrested under Various Sections of IPC, SC/ST Act

Trahi-Achyuta1After hours of questioning, the Commissionerate Police has finally arrested Sura Baba alias Surendra Nath Mishra and his sons – Trilochan Mishra and Biranchi Narayan Mishra at around 10:30 AM today.

Sura Baba is the Chief of Trahi Achyuta Ashram located at Jhinti on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. They have been arrested under Sections 109 (Abetment of Crime), 341 (Wrongful restraint), 342 (Wrongful confinement), 323 (Voluntarily causing hurt), 294 (Obscene acts in public), 506 (Criminal intimidation), 509 (Insulting modesty of women), 354 (Assault on woman) of the IPC, 34 IPC (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 3 SC/ST Act (Atrocities) and 25 Arms Act.

In total, three cases have been lodged against Sura Baba. One is by Jayanta Bhoi, another one by Jyotsna Rani Pradhan of Balipatana area. The third case was registered by the police under 25 Arms Act after two guns and three live cartridges were found from the Ashram. They lady has levelled cheating, threat and sexual exploitation charges against Sura Baba.

Meanwhile, the cops have also detained 11 people in connection with yesterday’s violence at Trahi Achyuta Ashram, which damaged properties worth Rs one crore or more.
