Police files two more cases against Ex-Congress MLA Ramesh Jena

Bhubaneswar, Mar 12Ramesh Jena:  Odisha police filed two more cases against arrested former Congress MLA from  Sanakhemundi – Ramesh Jena. According to reports, two cases – attempt to murder and murder case have been filed against Jena.

Jena and his three associates were arrested by Berhampur Police and Commissionerate of Police on March 6 here in connection with attack on a corporator on Feb 29. On Friday, the police found vital evidence of having links with the scam-tainted Green India Chit fund company. Berhampur SP told media that a luxury car worth Rs.1.35 crores bearing Haryana state registration number belonging to the arrested Congress leader has been seized.

Police carried out raids at the former MLA’s house at Gambhariguda village in Ganjam district on Thursday. Police seized two revolvers and some important documents during the raid at his house. As many as 12 cases have been pending against Jena at various police stations in Ganjam police district besides 13 cases in Berhampur police district.

Protesting against the arrest of Congress leader Ramesh Jena, more than 5,000 party activists gheraoed office of the Inspector General (IG) of police (southern range) in Berhampur under the leadership of Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra and party chief whip Taraprasad Bahinipati on Friday. Congress leaders alleged the police of implicating Jena in false cases due to political reasons. They submitted a memorandum to IG and warned to intensify their protest.
