Police-Lawyer clash: Crime Branch arrests 2 accused Cops

ONI Bureau:  A day after the Lawyers of Orissa High Court Bar Association decided to intensify their protest and continue cease-work demanding arrest of police officers following the attack on a lawyer, the Crime Branch of Odisha Police arrested Constable Dilip Singh and Home Guard Kishore Jena on Tuesday night. Later both the persons were granted bail.

The steps have been taken following an enquiry report on the August 28 incident when the cops had thrashed advocate Debi Prasad Pattnaik near Fish Market, Nua Bazaar, Chauliaganj in Cuttack. Protesting the injustice, the High Court Bar Association had called for the cease-work stir on August 30.

Earlier, the association has decided to gherao Naveen Niwas on Thursday as a mark of protest.
