Senior Congress leader Prasad Harichandan and former Nabarangpur Lok Sabha MP Pradeep Kumar Majhi are in the race to become PCC President. Four names have been sent to the High Command, including those of former PCC President Niranjan Patnaik and Chiranjib Biswal.
However, Harichandan and former Odisha Youth Congress President Pradeep Majhi are leading the race. If we believe some sources, Rahul Gandhi is keen on Pradeep Majhi. However, people close to Sonia Gandhi are trying to get the nod for Prasad Harichandan.
Harichandan had lost the assembly polls from Satyabadi, while Pradeep Majhi suffered a narrow, but shock defeat in Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat. While talking to Odisha News Insight, Pradeep Majhi said, “If I am given the chance to become the PCC President, I would set my own agenda and demand a free hand so that I can really work for the revival of the Congress Party at the grass root level”.
