Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his elder brother and industrialist Prem Patnaik handed over their ancestral property in Cuttack to the Odisha Government. The house of late Biju Patnaik, was dedicated to the people of Odisha. A heritage hall will be constructed inside ‘Anand Bhavan’, which will be opened for the public.
The sudden decision of CM Naveen Patnaik, has been attributed to a decline in his popularity, thanks to involvement of his leaders and officials in various scams and scandals. Naveen probably seeks to evoke Biju Patnaik’s legacy to strike an emotional chord with the people of Odisha.
Prem Patnaik and Naveen Patnaik signed all relevant documents at the Sub Registrar office in Cuttack. Incidentally, Prem’s elder son Arun Patnaik, who is seen as the heir to Naveen Patnaik’s political legacy, was also present at the occasion.
‘Anand Bhavan’, the house of late Biju Patnaik, is located at Tulsipur, Cuttack. It holds Kahata No, (1) 757, Plot No. 1,340, 1,341, (b) 435, Plot No. 1,335. Total land area is said to be 0.0533. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was born in Anand Bhavan. The house remained unused for years. Naveen Patnaik’s decision to hand over the house to the government, has been hailed by many.
