Puri Municipality Employees call off Strike

Puri, Oct 5: The employees of Puri Municipality called off eight-day long  strike over internal transfer orders on Monday. The body of Municipality employees called on the Municipality Chairman and MLA of Puri over the issue.

According to reports, around 200 members on the municipality were on strike since September 27 opposing the transfer orders issued by the Executive officers, those later nullified by the Chairman. They alleged that became victim of the power tussle between the Municipality Chairman and Executive Officer. They said that some internal transfers were not implemented due to power tussle between two top officials. It was reported that the Executive Officer has issued transfer order to some employees without taking approval from the Chairman.

The transfer orders were nullified by the Chairman on September 21.  More than 200 employees had decided to go on strike amid the power tussle between two officials.  After eight days of the strike called by the employees, it was called off by the employees’ body today.
