Puri Shankaracharya invited to climb Chariots with 6 Disciples

In a bid to avoid any controversy and conduct the Nabakalebara Rath Yatra smoothly, the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has invited Shankaracharya of Gobardhan Peeth Swami Nischalananda Saraswati to climb the chariots of deities.

Shankaracharya can climb the chariots along with 6 disciples – two sadhaks, two secretaries and two disciples. The invitation letter was carried by Shrimandir Niti Prashasak Pradip Das and Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sudipta Chatterjee.

The Shankaracharya has accepted the invitation of the temple administration,” said Manoj Rath, spokesman of Gobardhan Peeth.
