Rail Budget: BJD stages Rail Roko in Berhampur & Sambalpur

ONI Bureau:  The ruling BJD on Wednesday staged Rail Roko at the Berhampur and Sambalpur railway stations for an hour protesting over Centre’s negligence towards Odisha in the Union Budget-2018.

BJD alleged that Odisha has got an allocation of Rs 5,252 crore for the railways sector in the Union Budget 2018-19 against the state’s demand for Rs 6500 crore.

Further the ruling party alleged that no new railway lines have been announced in the Union Budget 2018-19 and there is no proposal of Rail Wagon factory in Sitalapalli in this year’s budget.

Worth mentioning, the allocated Railway Budget for Odisha is Rs 150 crore more than that of previous year’s allocation as the State had received Rs 5,102 crore last year.
