Ransacking of Gumma Block Office in Parlakhemundi: 22 arrested

Guma-block-office-ransackingPolice has arrested 22 persons for ransacking the block office over the NFSA ration card return row. Cases have been registered against them for thrashing policemen during the mob attack. Atleast 10 police staff, including DSP and an assistant sub-inspector was injured.

Tension prevails in the premises of Gumma block office when the angry mob ransacked the block office protesting the government’s directive asking ineligible beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) to return their ration cards.

When the police and district administration officials tried to dissuade the angry public, the situation went out of control, said Subadara Pradhan, Block Development Officer of Gumma block.
