The annual Ratha Jatra festivity of Lord Jagannath and siblings began in Puri on Monday. This is the second time that the festivity will be held without devotees due to the pandemic.
From Sunday 8pm, the district administration had imposed curfew in Puri. Restrictions were put into place in the three-km stretch of Grand Road, where the chariots will be pulled. 65 platoons of police personnel have been deployed in the area. To avoid crowding, the entry points to Puri have been closed.
The servitors, police personnel, media people and other government officials attending the Ratha Jatra were subjected to RT-PCR test.
