Rayagada Administration suspends 4 Govt employees

PDS-RayagadaRayagada, Aug 24: Rayagada administration has suspended four govt employees for providing false information in the survey formats meant for enlisting in Public Distribution System(PDS) according to National Food Security Act-2013 (NFSA). As per the letter no- 09-17-12-33/13-21017 FS & CW dated 13-12-2013 from Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, Govt of Odisha, the exclusion criteria sl. No. 3 mentions that no govt employee will come under the purview of PDS. A task force was constituted to identify the priority households by excluding certain category of people like households having four wheeler, landline phone, income tax payees, govt employees, pensioners getting more than Rs.10000.00, etc.

All these exclusion criteria were extensively published in various media including electronic media. This was time and again discussed during the block level and district level review meetings done by govt authorities. In spite of all these, a few govt employees have provided false information in Rayagada thus violating the NFS Act. Last Saturday the district admn has issued suspension orders to on RI named Sri Akrur Sahu working at Ramanaguda who has filed application under NFSA at Chandili. Three teachers named Dinamani Mallick from Kerada, Sri Rama Kanta Sahu from San raisingpadu, Sri Purna Chandra Nalla from Bedu who have provided the filled up application formats at Jemadeipentha, Hataseskhal & Kerada respectively.

“There are others who have also violated this Act while giving information in the newly devised formats. They need to be taken to task as soon as possible to identify the real priority households. Nevertheless, the district administration has taken up a pro-active step as an eye opener to the perpetrators of this Act. This action must continue”, said an emancipated denizen Sri Bijaya Mishra from Munusing village.
