Regional Passport Office to organize Passport Camps

Passport BuildingIn an endeavor to reduce hassles of passport applicants, the Regional Passport Office, Bhubaneswar has taken a unique step by conducting Passport Camp. The camps conducted on trial basis were proved successful. And, considering the tremendous response to its camps, the Regional Passport Office, Bhubaneswar decided to conduct similar camps across the state till December 2015.

The Regional Passport office had conducted camps in Berhampur, Rourkela and Sunabeda on a trial basis. These camps were very successful said Regional Passport Officer Mrs. Padma Mohanty. She added that considering the success of these camps, official have decided to conduct such camps across the state till the year end.

The Passport camps will be organized in Rourkela from Feb13 to 15, in Berhampur from Feb27 to Mar 1 and in Sambalpur from Mar 21 to Mar 22. In the another phase the camps will be organized in Kendrapara in the month of September. In Balasore and Angul in October, Bhawanipatna and Bolangir in November and in Rourkela in December 2015, she added. Mohanty said that facilities have been organized for the CRPF jawans those are deployed in remote areas; they can visit camps and apply for passports too.

Regional Passport Office was established in 1979, over a period of time it increased issuing passports. It is noteworthy that, in 1980 it issued around 1500 passports and the number increased to 94,672 in the year 2014.
