Renowned Odia Lyricist Nizam dies in Bhubaneswar at 62

NizamRenowned Odia lyricist Nizam, who created a special place in millions of Odia hearts by penning beautiful songs, died at the age of 62. Nizam had a prolonged illness, including kidney ailments. He breathed his last at Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneswar this morning.

Nizam started his career in Odia Film industry in 1977 and established himself as a great lyricist. Some of the key songs penned by him, including ‘Hrudayara Eei Sunyata Ku Aaji Pachari Mu Jebe Sune’ and ‘Mu Je Eka Pagala Bhanra’ have become immortal.

The entire Ollywood has plunged into grief and sorrow following the demise of Nizam. Condolence messages are pouring in from all quarters.

Initial reports suggested that the Apollo Hospital authorities demanded Rs 2.5 lakh to release Nizam’s body. However, the confirmation came that his body was handed over to the family after they promised to pay the remaining amount. Nizam’s body will be taken to his Cuttack residence. He will be cremated at Daragha Bazar this afternoon.
