Resolution tabled to establish Legislative Council passed in Odisha Assembly

ONI Bureau:  The resolution tabled for establishing Legislative Council (Vidhan Parishad) was passed in Odisha Assembly on Thursday.

Odisha Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha today moved resolution in the state Assembly for formation of State Legislatiatve Council with an annual expenditure of Rs 35 crore.

While all 104 BJD members present in the House voted in favour of the resolution, the members of Congress and BJP have walked out of the house opposing the resolution.

State Legislatiatve Council will be formed with 49 members with 6 years tenure for each member, while 1/3rd of its members will retire every 2 years.
