Rourkela Hospital Fire Mishap: 9-day-old baby succumbs to burn injuries

ONI Bureau:  A nine-day-old baby boy, who sustained critical burn injuries in a fire mishap that occurred at Om Appolo hospital in Rourkela on February 17, succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment in a hospital in Bhubaneswar today.

Reportedly, the newborn was admitted to the hospital for jaundice treatment. The fire had spread in the Nursery Department of the hospital where the newborn was admitted. The the infant had sustained 80 percent burn injuries.

The parents and locals have staged massive dharna in front of the hospital seeking compensation to the family members of the deceased infant.
