Royal Bengal Tiger from MP reaches Satkosia Sanctuary

A three-year-old male Royal Bengal Tiger has been released into Satkosia Sanctuary in Angul district of Odisha on Thursday evening.

A joint team of Odisha Forest Department officials along with staff members of National Tiger Conservation Authority and veterinary doctors brought the big cat in a special vehicle from Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh.

The step was taken as a part of Odisha Government’s efforts to increase tiger population in the protected 963 sq-km sanctuary, which currently possesses only two tigers, both aged over 13.

Five more tigers will be brought to Satkosia in subsequent phases, sources said.
