Rs 70000 Thousand Counterfeit note seized in Nabarangpur Dist.

By Rakesh Gupta: The local police succeed to seize a large haul of counterfeit notes and arrested one person and two women were detained. The Tentulikhunti Police got a tip that one person Sadasiva Harijan, 25 years of Bharmajhi Guda, under Anchalguma Panchayat is dealing and circulates the Counterfeit notes. Police raided his house and seized 144 number of duplicate 500 rupees note.

As the notes were kept in bundle wrapped in a Bengali news paper police suspect that these may be smuggled from West Bengal and even any link with Bangladsh is not ruled out as told by Tentulikhunti IIC Bisi kesan Nayak. Mother and Sister of the accused were also detained by the Tentuli khunti police.

Since last year a large number of counterfeit notes were circulated in different parts of Nabarangpur district market, particularly the innocent people were cheated with the duplicate notes in the rural market and in the weekly market. A number of such notesarrives at local banks and after receiving such notes bank staff put a seal of Counterfeit on such notes, as directed by RBI.
