Sargi Phool Festival to begin on December 17

Sargi-PhoolThe Department of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) in Odisha will hold ‘Sargi Phool Festival 2014’ for children on December 17. The festival will continue till December 19 at the Adivasi Ground in Unit I, Bhubaneswar.

Children and teachers from over 900 schools of all 30 districts in Odisha, will participate in the festival. A state-level science exhibition will be held to mark the occasion. In addition, 19 work shops including science games, clay modelling, Best of West, Film producing, photography, photo editing, child reporting etc will be held for children.

Apart from these, debate, dance and music competitions will be held for the children. And, cultural programme by the school children will mark the evening. Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik will attend the ‘Sargi Phool Festival 2014’ as the Chief Guest.

Other Ministers such as Lal Bihari Himirika, Sudam Marandi, Snehangini Chhuria and Unicef Odisha chief Yumi Bae, SC/ST Secretary Surendra Kumar, Director R Raghuprasad and SCSTRTE Director and ALC Secretary Prof. Dr. AB Ota will also grace the occasion.

To highlight the hidden talent of students studying at schools run by SC/ST department of Odisha, the state-level ‘Sargi Phool Festival’ is being organised every year.
