Section 144 clamped at Paradip Port over Dumper Dispute

Paradip PortThe district administration on Wednesday clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 following a strike threat by members of dumper owners’ associations over an intra-port transport operation.

Tension erupted at Port side due to rift between two dumper owners’ associations. Reportedly, a case was registered by police against 37 members of two groups.

Notably, on Monday, members of Atal Bihari Bajpayee Tippers Owners’ Association and Nirakar Dumper Association had threatened to paralyse port activities protesting restriction on the entry of 115 dumpers for intra-port cargo operation.

Keeping strict vigil on the port, the district administration has deployed 20 platoons of forces in the area.
