In a big setback to Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and ruling Biju Janata Dal, senior BJD leader and prominent minority face of the party, Dr. Hamid Hussain joined the Congress on Wednesday in the presence of PCC President Prasad Harichandan.
Dr. Hussain, who had contested from Bargarh Lok Sabha seat in 2009, resigned from the Executive Body of the BJD while tendering his resignation. Prasad Harichandan welcomed him and said Dr. Hussain would turn out to be a huge asset for the party.
Hussain lashed out at the BJD Government, saying bureaucrats run the show in Odisha and Ministers and MLAs are being neglected. He accused Naveen Patnaik of turning a blind eye to the issues of farmers too. Dr. Hussain confirmed that bureaucracy’s dominance over political leadership was the main reason behind his resignation from the BJD.
