Similipal Tiger Reserve to reopen for Tourists from Nov 1

Signboard_inside_Simlipal_National_ParkBhubaneswar, Oct 26: The officials of Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) have decided to reopen the national park for tourists from November 1. The park was from June 16 during monsoon season. Director of STR Ajit Kumar Satpathy told media that the officials have complete all the restoration work to reopen the national part for the tourists.

He said that, maximum 60 four-wheelers would be allowed into the party per day. The authorities permitted to allow 25 four-wheelers through Pithabata gate and 35 through Kalinani gate in a day. He said that tickets would be available at Jasipur booking counter. And, the tourists those want to spend nights at Gudugudia and Jamuni guesthouses should book their reservations in advance, he added.

The authorities have made mandatory time to leave the park and imposed ban on toxic items including polythene, plastic related accessories, hooch, etc., inside the park. As per the guidelines, tourists are bound to take guides along with them. They are advised to leave Joranda and Barehipani waterfall areas by 3 pm. Officials have set 4 pm to leave Chahala area for the tourists. All tourists must leave the gates of Pithabata, Kaliapani and Tulasibani by 5pm, he said.
