SIT team begins probe into Kandhamal Killings

The six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by Odisha Police began its probe into the shocking death of five innocent villagers, who were killed during during the crossfire between Maoists and the security forces near Gumudumaha village of Kurtamgarh panchayat under Baliguda police limits on July 8.

The team led by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of Human Rights Protection Cell (HRPC) Mahendra Pratap reached at Baliguda and will begin its probe today. The team will get the detailed information about the incident and discuss with Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel who were involved in the operation on July 8.

Necessary action will be taken after going through all the records of the events, visiting the spot and interrogating those who were involved in the incident, said Mahendra Pratap (ADGP).
