Special rituals at Puri Jagannath Temple for Lunar Eclipse

ONI Bureau:  Special rituals of Trinity, Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath and Devi Subhadra will be held ahead of the total lunar eclipse today.

All routine rituals will be stopped around 2:54 pm after Mailama and Tadapalagi. Same rituals will be followed in all temples across Odisha.

After the lunar eclipse commences, a special bhog will be offered around 11.54 pm followed by a ‘Sandhya Alati’. and that ‘Debaniti’ will continue till 3.49 am July 28.  The deities would be offered Khaikora during the eclipse.

The celestial spectacle, which would be seen in its entirety from all parts of India, last for 1 hour 43 minutes, making it the longest total lunar eclipse of this century (2001 AD to 2100 AD), the Ministry of Earth Science had said. The full eclipse will last between 1 am and 2.43 am.
