Spurious Gutkha Factory raided in Bhubaneswar, 9 People Arrested

Gutkha FactoryA special squad of the Commissionerate Police led by Inspector Anup Kanungo, has unearthed a major racket by raiding an unauthorised Gutkha manufacturing company at Jagannath Vihar under Laxmisagar police limits in the capital city and arresting 9 people.

The arrested people included the Manager of the factory. “Several sacks of spurious Gutkhas, two machines and huge quantities of raw material were seized during the raid,” confirmed DCP Satyabrata Bhoi. Duplicate Gutkha packets were also seized from the factory.

Owner of the Gutkha manufacturing factory has been identified as S Chand Gupta from Uttar Pradesh. He is absconding. Manager Sheikh Faraz hails from Odisha. Other 8 accused were from Uttar Pradesh.

The factory was indulged in maGutkha-Bhubaneswarnufacturing of 8-9 sacks of gutkha worth Rs 15 lakh everyday. Each employee used to work for 14 hours a day. The raw materials were brought from Kanpur.

The arrested people were identified as Subash Verma (21), Rakesh Soni (46), Kailash Chourasia (24), Anil Kumar (32), Rajendra Sahu (32), Ambrit Lal (32), Sandeep Chourasia (23), Sunil Kumar Soni (22) and Sheikh Faraz (29).
