State Election Commission issues Directive for Polling Officials’ Safety

The State Election Commission (SEC) on Tuesday issued guidelines for the safety of polling officials as serious irregularities are also seen in many villages during the ongoing polls.

A press release has issued to all District Collectors and SPs regarding the safety of the polling parties and polling materials.

The letter said that the presiding officer shall be asked not to leave the polling booth without proper security. It further stated that, the election official should return to the Block Headquarters with police escorts.

Yesterday, polling officials were detained by villagers, miscreants had looted ballot box from booth, broken and torched in various places.
