Odisha: Subarta felicitates Historian Prafulla Chandra Tripathy

Subarta2Odisha’s leading Weekly newspaper, ‘Subarta’, which has managed to uphold ethics and journalism, thanks to one of the torch bearers of Odia Journalism, Editor Shri Pradyumna Satpathy, held an intellectual seminar on a topic ‘Is it Necessary to rewrite Odisha History’ at its office premises yesterday.

The seminar was organised to mark the 75th birth anniversary celebrations of eminent Historian, Writer and Researcher Shri Prafulla Chandra Tripathy, who was felicitated by the dignitaries present there. Editor Pradyumna Satpathy delivered the inaugural address and batted for the need to revisit Odisha history with strong arguments and points.

Retired Bureaucrat Shri Sanjeev Hota and former Chief Secretary of Odisha, Shri Ajit Tripathy and many intellectuals such as Shri Patitapaban Mohapatra (General Manager – Printer & Publisher, The Samaya), Shri Sahadeb Jayasingh, Shri Rath Das, Shri Shankarshan Parida and many other eminent personalities were present at the seminar.

Subarta1Sagar Satapathy, Editor of The News Insight Group, presided over the meeting. Shri Dayanidhi Tripathy gave the ‘Vote of Thanks’.

The speakers stressed the need for re-writing the Odisha history so that the current and future generation know the facts and real aspects of Odisha’ culture and heritage. They cited various examples and corroborated their points with evidences and arguments.

Most of them lamented that Odisha’s history was never properly written, leading to confusion and half-truth in many historical books and literature.
