Sukinda ‘Gang Rape’ Case

On Thursday, workers of a certain political party protested outside Sukinda police station in Jajpur district, demanding quick arrest of the youth involved in the alleged gang rape of a girl the previous evening.
The incident gained weightage after the girl’s father lodged a complaint at Sukinda police station identifying a relative of a former Minister and another youth in the alleged crime.
The complaint mentions, while the girl was operating her father’s shop, two youths dragged the girl into a four-wheeler and raped her at a secluded place near Duburi. They then took her to the house of another youth, who is said be a relative of the political leader. There the two thrashed her and took turns to rape her. Later, they dropped her near her house.

After the incident came to light, the agitated locals surrounded the police station and demanded immediate arrest of the accused. Police have already registered a case and started probe.
