Supreme Court asks Selvam Trust to deposit Rs 2 Crore

Supreme Court GujaratThe Supreme Court today directed Selvam Education Trust to deposit Rs 2 crore by June 25. Justice Deepak Mishra said that a non bailable warrant (NBW) will be issued against the Selvam Trust if it fails to deposit the said amount on June 25.

The trust had an agreement with the Western Odisha Development Council in 2014 to set up the medical college in Kalahandi. Though the trust had established Sardar Rajas Medical College, the Medical Council of India (MCI) did not agree to give recognition to the institute on the ground that it failed to meet the MCI norms.

The Supreme Court had asked to deposit Rs 2 crore as it had failed to establish a functional medical college at Jaring, Kalahandi. But the Trust had filed an application for modification of the order. Later on  that was rejected by the apex court.
