Surface-to-Air Ballistic Missile ‘Barak-8’ test-fired from Chandipur

India on Thursday successfully test-fired its newly-developed surface-to-air ballistic missile Barak-8 from Odisha coast.

Barak-8, was test launched from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur of Odisha coast today morning.

Barak-8 can hit the target within a range of 70 km and can carry a payload of 60 kg.

The test-firing of the missile was jointly carried out by Indian defence personnel, DRDO and Israel Aerospace Industries, sources said.

The launch was originally scheduled for Wednesday but was postponed for today.
