Tarakasi work of Cuttack, Lakha work of Nabarangpur to shine in Hockey World Cup

ONI Bureau:  With an aim to promote its rich art and crafts, Odisha’s Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department have planned to present Cuttack’s famous silver filigree ‘Tarakasi’ mementos to dignitaries and players coming for the Hockey World Cup 2018.

The mementos are replicating the hockey stick,  ball and the World Cup. As many as 275 mementos will be prepared for presentations.

Similarly, the age-old ‘lakha’ (lacquer) artisans in Nabarangpur are also carving 700 gift boxes made of lacquer that will be used for the packing the gifts as they are sustainable and organic.
