The Odisha Government writes to Centre over NTPC Power Plant

Naveen PatnaikChief Minister Naveen Patnaik wrote a letter to Union Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, Piyush Goyal stating that the people residing in 27 villages of Lakhanpur block in Jharsuguda district.

Notably, the villages has been intensely affected by the smoke, dust and greenhouse gases coming from the 1600 MW Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) at Lara in Odisha-Chhattisgarh border.

Patnaik said, no public hearing regarding Environment Impact Assessment has been done in the villages which have been affected by this project.

Drawing attention of the Union Minister towards the issue, Chief Minister requested to direct the NTPC authorities to take appropriate action on this matter.
