Tofan Baba surrenders at Jeypore Court, gets bail

Jeypore, Jan 20: Tofani Baba, self proclaimed Godman, surrendered before Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate here on Tuesday with a High Court anticipatory bail. He has been absconding since November 4, 2015 after police and forest officials seized deer horns, turtles, barking deer, gunduri birds and monkey from his Sauraguda ashram.

Jeypore SDJM Court allowed his bail instructing him to follow the conditions given by High Court and after fulfilling the criteria he is been released on bail. The Baba had furnished the condition of the Court of Rs.15, 000 as security deposit and one surety for his bail said Rajendra Samantray the advocate of Tofani Baba.

Tofan Baba alias Kali Baba alias Tofan Mohanty was alleged of keeping wild animals in his Ashram illegally. When joint raid conducted by forest department and police on 4th November, many weapons, cash, ornaments, liquor and contraceptive items also seized by officials.

Forest department seized the animals and other articles too and was in search of Baba. Police and forest declared the Baba as absconded. Baba today denied all the allegations and said court will decide the fact.
