Town Planning: BDA to implement Gujarat Model in BBSR

BDA-Town-PlanningFor the first time in Odisha, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has decided to implement the town planning structure at select places in Bhubaneswar on the lines of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. The decision was taken at a high level meeting chaired by Khordha Collector Niranjan Sahu.

BDA Secretary Ranjan Kumar Das and Planning Member Sudhir Mohanty explained the modalities and benefits of the scheme using various presentations. The District Collector tried to reassure the people that they will get benefited the scheme rather than losing anything.

Like the ‘Sabka Vikas’ scheme of Gujarat, the BDA has chosen 750 acres of land in Naragada, Sijuput, Sahajpur and Paikarapur to start the town planning scheme. Other areas will be developed at a later stage. The people’s representatives from the above areas also attended the meeting.

The BDA officials have already visited Gujarat to review the scheme and its benefits. According to Ranjan Kumar Das, the people’s representatives will be taken to Gujarat if necessary so that their fears and concerns are allayed.

Among others, BDA Advisor B. Shah, Deputy Collector B. Das, DIPRO Barada Das, Bhubaneswar BDO, Tehsildar and other officials were also present in the meeting.
