Trade Unions call Nationwide Strike on September 2

CITUBhubaneswar, Aug 3: Trade Unions will observe a nationwide strike on September 2 against Central government’s anti-labour and trade union policies. President of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) Lambodar Nayak reiterated their 12-point charters of demand buy the centre. He was addressing at a convention of the state committee of the Central Trade Union joint forum here on Sunday.

Nayak alleged the central government of adopting anti-labour policies without taking trade unions into consideration. The major demands of the unions including withdrawal of Land Acquisition Bill, Road Transport and Safety Bill of 2014, continuance of existing labour legislations, scrapping privatisation of government sectors, abolition of contractual system, providing ESI and Provident fund to unorganized labourers.
