Victory of People’s Power, as Beer Factory in Balarampur Cancelled

ONI Bureau:  Victory of people’s power in Balarampur as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday ordered cancellation of setting up of beer factory in Jhinkargadi forest of Balarampur village in Dhenkanal district.

The development comes after villagers including hundreds of women on Saturday lodged a strong protest against tree felling for the proposed Beer Factory.

“The allocation Bottling Plant may be cancelled and alternate site may be provided. Unnecessary felling of trees may be stopped forth with, and immediate plantation should be taken up”, D.V. Swamy, Revenue Divisional Commissioner said in a letter issued to Government of Odisha.

Earlier on Sunday, the CM had ordered to stop felling of trees in the area. He also directed the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) to probe into the incident.

Responding to BJP legislature KV Singhdeo during the Zero Hour, Finance and Excise Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera said the State Government will plant double number of trees that are felled in the forest.
