Concerning over the closure of the Vedanata’s plant, villagers of Lanjigarh called on District Collector of Kalahandi. People led by Sarapanch Pradip Majhi apprised the collector they would be affected if the plant was shutdown. They told that they contributed lands for the project and the state government had also signed MoU with the company to provide bauxite. People handed over a memorandum to the district collector on the name of Chief Minister.
District Collector D. Brunda assured people that she would try to put the matter before Odisha government.
According to reports, the company has been incurring loss of Rs. 3 crore everyday due to lack of bauxite supply and falling aluminium prices. Those are the major reason for the closure of the plant in Lanjigarh.
