Vice President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari on Saturday inaugurated the Rural Hockey Tournament in Rourkela.
The tournament was organised by the former India hockey captain and Rajya Sabha MP Dilip Tirkey.
As many as 33 platoons of police force have been deployed in view of Vice President’s visit to the steel city.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram are also attended the opening ceremony of the grand event.
Around 1500 teams and 25,000 players from the rural areas of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand will exhibit their skills in this grand tournament.
