Woman delivers a Baby on Road in Koraput Dist

In a shocking incident, a woman gave birth to a baby on road as an ambulance failed to reach the village on time to pick up the pregnant lady to the hospital at Gujiaguda village under Dasmantpur block in Koraput district .

Finding no other option, she has decided to go nearby medical by walking. But in the midway she has given birth to a baby.

The woman and the newborn were later shifted to the Dasmantpur health centre for better medical care.

The incident questioned the implementation of Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), meant for the safe motherhood by providing institutional delivery to the poor pregnant women in the tribal dominated districts.
