Woman raped and set afire by Father-in-law, dies

ONI Bureau:  A 23-year-old woman, who was battling for life after allegedly raped and set on fire by her father-in-law in Mayurbhanj district on Friday, died during treatment in the early hours on Sunday.

The woman, who had sustained  over 80 per cent burn,  admitted to a private hospital at Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, succumbed to injury.

As per sources when the victim warned the accused to report the matter to the family members, the accused set her ablaze by sprinkling kerosene.

However, locals and family members of the deceased staged protest demanding strict action against the man and his family in Mayurbhanj’s Rairangpur.
