Workshop–cum-Investors’ Meet held at MSME Trade Fair

MSME-Trade-FairA Workshop–cum-Investors’ Meet on Food Processing was held on 9th January, 2015 in the IDCO Exhibition Ground, Bhubaneswar. It was inaugurated by Shri Panchanan Dash, Secretary to Govt., MSME Department, Odisha. Shri N.Palai, Director of Industries, Shri P.Krishna Mohan, Director, Fisheries, Shri Bidhan Chandra Das, Deputy Director & Branch Head, Indian Institute of Packaging, Kolkata and  Shri Sanjeev Kumar Singh, CEO, M/s Amarapalli Bio-Tech also participated in the inaugural session of the event.

Addressing a gathering of around 250 entrepreneurs, the Secretary, MSME in his inaugural address, stressed on the relevance of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. He stated that MSMEs play a major role in eradicating unemployment and equitable distribution of income, enhancing GRP of the State and Nation.

He further stressed on programmes and Schemes being implemented by the State like NMFP and Odisha Food Processing Policy, 2013 exclusively for food processing industries. He stated that food processing is in its nascent stage in Odisha at about 1%. It is contemplated to enhance this to 25% by 2025. A special Vision Document Is being drafted for this purpose and Govt. Is providing focused incentives for food processing industries. He stressed on the need for inculcating a culture of Make in Odisha.

Dr. Khalid Khan, Dean, CAET, OUAT made a detailed presentation showcasing the technologies available with them for micro and small food processing enterprises. Ms. Niroj Nalini Jena, Odisha State Cashew Development Corporation Ltd. Stressed on the need for modernizing traditional cashew nut processing units in order to reduce pollution and increase the efficiency of the units. Sri Bidhan Chandra Das, Dy. Director & Branch Head, Indian Institute of Packaging, Kolkata made a presentation on scope and potential of packaging in Odisha. Sri N.C.Pani, DGM, NABARD highlighted the special schemes for food processing industries and a special loan package @ 9.5% for units set up in Mega Food Parks.

Deliberation was also made on RTE manufacturing in Odisha, Opportunities in Maize Processing and Bakery sector.

During the 2nd technical session, discussion was also made on Scope in Marine / Fisheries sector, sea exports and Dairy exports.

•    20 large enterprises (like MCL, NALCO, SAIL, OCL India, TATA Steel, Jindal Steels & Power, NTPC, East Coast Railways, Emami Paper Ltd., Visakha, ACC Cement)

Directorate of Industries Stall is providing support through Facilitation Counter-cum-Help Desk for the following activities for entrepreneurs
•    On-line Filing of Entrepreneur Memorandum Part-I (EM-I)
•    On-line Filing of Entrepreneur Memorandum Part-II (EM-II)
•    Guideline for Preparation of DPR
•    Credit Facilitation
•    Incentives under various policies
•    Coordination with various Line Departments.
