World famous Dhanu Yatra begins in Bargarh today

Dhanu Yatra, the world’s largest open air theatre, which is of historical significance for the people of Western Odisha, kicked off in Bargarh town today. The 11-day-long festival will end on 12th January 2017.

The play is comprises of three mythological episodes related to Lord Krishna’s life – ‘Krishna Leela’, ‘Mathura Bijaya’ and ‘Kansa Badha’.

During the Dhanu Yatra, Bargarh city transforms into Mathura, Ambapalli area will stage as Gopapur, Jeera River will set as the Yamuna river and Hatapada mandap will be remained Raj darbar of King Kansa.

On the Day 1 of the Dhanu Yatra festival, King Kansa dethroned his father Ugrasen and took over as the new monarch.
