4th Title for Padmini Rout at National Women’s Chess Championship

ONI Bureau: International chess star and defending champion Padmini Rout won the national title now for the fourth time in a row at the 44th National Women Premier Chess Championship in Surat Tennis Club on Wednesday night.

Padmini had won her final round game against Sakshi Chitlange as rivals play out a draw on final day.

Born in Barambagarh, Odisha, Padmini Rout started playing chess at the age of nine (2003) and won the Indian Women’s championship in 2014 for the first time and has successfully retained it till date.
